Background

The basic idea of the project is to create an open Internet platform for people with learning difficulties with the background of self-determination and dialogue. Aim of the project on the one hand is the increase of self-determination and self-responsibility and on the other hand to make it possible for people with learning difficulties to get in contact with other people. People should be supported and promoted to get information and contact with others by themselves and not only with the help of others. The Internet platform sees itself as a tool for the acquisition of this goal. A further objective is the conscious making of the possibilities of the medium Internet (and/or the computer) for people with learning difficulties. A sensitisation for the use of this medium in institutions for people with learning difficulties but also in the private sector should accompany the erection of this platform.

Realisation

The platform should be adjusted to the needs of the target group but also be open to all others interested. The platform is to be arranged in a way that the entrance to the medium Internet is made possible for people with learning difficulties. Conditions for this are a clearly arranged structure and a understandable and easily readable language. The platform should be programmed barrier-free in accordance with the guidelines of the European Union. Fundamental target group are people with learning difficulties; but the use of the platform should also be possible for others interested, since this is for the purposes of the idea of dialogue. Thus the platform is also open to parents, assistants, other persons attached to people with learning difficulties, other people with handicap and all interested.

Final Products/Results

On the June 23rd 2005 the platform was tested by final users - pupils with learning difficulties from the city Svishtov. Our sincere thanks to all of them and their assistants who kindly helped us with opinions, observations and suggestions, it was our pleasure to work with all of them.

The project is prolonged till December 2005 and the platform is still under development, which you could visit on http://www.loomy.net/beta.
